Well, for all you Twilight fans, here is another book to add to your collection! Actually, it’s more of a novella or what Stephanie Meyer says is her version of a short story.

If you all remember Bree Tanner from Eclipse, this story is about her short life and role she has in trying to take down the Cullen family and Bella. I think I’m going to have to read Eclipse again as I read all the books one after the other in about three days, they all mesh together.

Hopefully this book is as entertaining of a read as her previous books; if it’s a short story I can’t imagine it taking more than an hour or two to read. According to her site, you can download the book for free for a limited time, or buy a hard copy to add to your collection of Twilight! A side note, $1 of every hard copy will be donated to Red Cross!

Enjoy!

Stephanie Meyer is our pick for the month of November due to her incredible success as Twilight Saga author. I really enjoyed the Twilight Saga written by Stephanie Meyer and truthfully, once I started Twilight I couldn’t stop reading until I was finished with the final words of Breaking Dawn.

In addition to the Twilight Books, there are now two major motion films based on Twilight and New Moon, due to release in the next week on November 20, 2009. Fans of team Jacob will thoroughly enjoy New Moon as in the novel there was very little Edward and most of the book was about Jacob and Bella. I personally cannot wait for the movie New Moon to come out; the trailers have kept me barely satisfied and I am curious to see how Dakota Fanning portrays Irina, one of the members of the Volturi family.

Upon further research, I found out that the movie Eclipse is already in the works and due to release this summer. No trailers for this movie yet, but there is a teaser poster.

Twilight
Author: Stephanie Meyer

Twilight is the first book in a series of four. This novel takes place in Seattle and is centered around the character Bella, a teen that has chosen to live with her dad in a very small town in Seattle, Washington. Upon arriving at her new high school students take notice of her, but she only has eyes for Edward, a gorgeous vampire who seems to hate her guts. She does not know why he hates her or that he’s a vampire. It turns out that he does not hate her, but is extremely attracted to her and her scent; he does not know if he can control himself around her. Edward saves Bella’s life and they become inseparable. She figures out the truth about Edward, but good news, he doesn’t eat people only animals! She falls madly in love with him and him with her. The only problem is he is a immortal vampire and she a mer mortal; Bella wants Edward to turn her into a vampire too, but he refuses.

Twilight got me hooked on the series and once I started reading I couldn’t stop until I was finished with them all, thankfully they were all released by the time I started so no waiting between books! This book is written at a fourth grade level, probably why I was able to read it in a few hours, but addresses many teen issues like sex, relationships, parents, and teen rebellion. I really enjoyed the first Twilight book as well as the rest. I, like many others I’m sure, fell instantly in love with Edward and could feel Bella’s attraction and pain like it was my own; this to me is a sign of a really good writer. Trust me when I say once you start reading this series you won’t be able to stop until all four books are complete.

Breaking Dawn
Author: Stephanie Meyer

Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final installment of the Twilight series and Stephanie Meyer didn’t hold back with her descriptions of Bella’s pregnancy and birth. This book starts out with the marriage and honeymoon of Bella and Edward (yeah!) and Bella becomes pregnant with Edward’s child, something the vampires did not realize could happen. The pregnancy is in super fast forward and threatens Bella’s life, but she refuses to abort the pregnancy much to Edward’s dismay (he believes the child is killing Bella). When Bella gives birth most of her bones are broken and she loses an incredible amount of blood, forcing Edward to turn her into a vampire. The girl born is a hybrid human-vampire and Jacob imprints on her upon meeting.

The second chapter in Breaking Dawn is written from Jacob’s point of view, something the author has not done in her previous books. He struggles with the news of Bella’s pregnancy and works to convince the wolf pack not to destroy her or her unborn child. When Bella’s baby is born Jacob immediately imprints on her, something werewolves do to indicate their soul mate. This freaks out both Bella and Edward since it is their newborn child and Jacob is in his late teens, but he guards his little angel with his life and refuses to leave her side.

The final chapter in Breaking Dawn is again written from Bella’s point of view. Irina, a member of the Volturi family sees Renesmee, the new child, and believes she is an immortal child which is uncontrollable and a great threat to all. The Cullen’s need to convince the Volturi family that Renesmee is not an immortal child, but a hybrid and poses no threat to anyone. This is difficult and they need to gather many witnesses that can back up their story and possibly fight the Volturi, should it come down to that.

I found Breaking Dawn to be an interesting take on what a hybrid vampire-human could be like; I’ve never heard of such a thing, although maybe it’s mentioned in other vampire stories. In talking to others about this fourth installment of the Twilight series I found that people either love this book or hate it. The topic of discussion mostly focused on the first chapter which is extremely graphic and quite disturbing if you ask me, but I still loved every page. I also enjoyed reading the middle chapter which focused on Jacob’s point of view. Although I am team Edward, I found myself liking Jacob a lot in this novel, probably because he’s given up on Bella and now has a new obsession. The only thing that bothered me about this book is that it was the end of a series that I enjoyed immensely. I almost wish I am a slower reader because then I would have more time with Bella, Jacob, and Edward. I did hear that Stephanie Meyer was starting on a fifth book that would be written in Edward’s point of view, but since the beginnings of the novel was leaked onto the web, she decided to put it on hold. I am very disappointed with this decision, but understand her point. What artist wants their unfinished work out for the public to see and criticize? I just hope she gets re inspired and decides to reopen the project and continue with the series.

If you enjoyed this review you may also enjoy Twilight Book Review, Eclipse Book Review, and New Moon Book Review.

If you messed up and read Breaking Dawn first then you need to read Eclipse, Twilight, and New Moon also authored by Stephanie Meyer.
