I have not really jumped on the Kindle bandwagon until now with this new Kindle version. Now I want one! This new version of Kindle, the Kindle DX, has many new features that are impressive and worth the cost for the convenience.
Some of the Kindle DX Features are:

  • 9.7″ display option
  • Just over 1/3″ slim
  • 3G wireless connection at no extra charge
  • Global Coverage
  • PDF Reader (this feature jumped out at me since I am a student and most of my class readings are in PDF format)
  • Can hold up to 3,500 books, periodicals, and documents
  • Longer battery life- read up to one week before having to recharge
  • Free book samples-download the first few pages of a book and try it out before buying!

If you don’t have a Kindle yet, now is the time to get one! The thing that is the most appealing to me is that I can carry my entire library with me while I travel. No more packing 10 books at a time!

Being a book lover and avid reader I often get asked what I think about the Kindle. I personally do not have a Kindle, nor have I ever used a Kindle, but my mother and grandfather both use a Kindle and seem to like it. I have a dilemma when it comes to the Kindle and willing myself to throw down a large amount of cash for one. On one hand, I would love to own a Kindle for those long trips when I will want to read a book, but do not know what I’ll be in the mood for at any particular moment.  A Kindle would grant me a portable library of hundreds or even thousands of books at my finger tips; no more packing an entire suitcase or bag just for my books! On the other hand, I love to hold a book in my hand. I love having filled bookshelves in my house. I love showing off my personal library. I’m sure in the future I may invest in a Kindle, or maybe get one as a gift or donation to this site (hint, hint), but meanwhile I’ll continue to be old school and read from an actual book.
