Forever
Author: Pete Hamill

Forever is an extraordinary tale of Cormac O’Conner and the island of Manhattan. O’Conner arrives in New York after tragedy strikes in his homeland of Ireland, in search of revenge. He is granted immortality as long as he stays on the island of Manhattan. The reader is able to witness through his eyes the changes of New York over hundreds of years and the many circumstances that has molded the city we know today. Forever paints a picture of a love and war in a city that is much adored by many.

Forever took me on a magical journey through Ireland and New York that kept me wanting more after the last page had been read. I stayed up late many nights reading this novel and continued to think about it during my activities during the day. O’Conner is a deep character that anyone can relate to; I wanted to jump inside the book and walk with him through his adventures. I found this novel on my mother’s shelves and have yet to return it to her because I think I may read it again. I have not heard of Pete Hamill before reading this book, but I am very interested in reading his other books, Snow in August and A Drinking Life.
