Classic, Schmlassic

July 26th, 2011

Look, I get that Little Women is a good book. I mostly enjoyed it…before I threw it against a wall in a total rage. But I did pick it back up and finish it, fuming the entire time. Other people seem to love this classic novel. More power to them, I guess.

I’m in no way anti-”classics”. But I know, as a lady who likes romance, there are certain books I’m supposed to like that I just don’t get (see: my earlier post re: Jane Austen). So, instead of trying to convince myself that one day, I’ll read Little Women and Jo won’t lose her ever-lovin’ mind, I’ve decided to just make my own list of Must Read Books By Those Who Love Romance.

…Except that’s really hard. Please help! Leave your suggestions in the comments. I’ll start, with the easy one–The Flame and the Flower. And I’ll add my favorite book, A Tale of Two Cities. Not a romance by any stretch, but sooo romantic.

Okay, go!
